Went to the new restaurant Lavo last night with girlfriends. It was delicious. We wait 45 minutes beyond our reservation time but it was worth it. The garlic bread they bring to the table made up for the wait and our waitress was really good. She warned us that the portions are huge so we split a 2 appetizers, two entrees and a dessert and we were stuffed. Watch what you order for sure otherwise they may have to roll you out. Every bite was delicious and I can’t wait to go back.

The day has finally come and we’re open. The paint is dry, the floors are redone and the cabinetry is installed. We are still waiting for a lot of merchandise to arrive but word is spreading and neighbors are peeking in to see what’s going on. Nestled in a 19th century townhouse on a tree-lined block in Carnegie Hill, Monograms off Madison is the perfect place for picking up a personalized gift for every occasion! The store, which opened in September 2010, pairs made-to-order gifts with excellent customer service for a one-of-a-kind shopping experience.
Monograms off Madison owner, Alyssa Tierney, has sold playfully preppy accessories to specialty boutiques nationwide under the A. Tierney label for over ten years. Since many of the products in that line can be personalized, it was natural that Tierney became an expert in monogramming, which inspired her to open her own store, offering the same beautiful monogramming on a broad assortment of specialty products.
“A personalized gift is a great way to show the recipient that you put some thought into it and didn’t just pick something up en-route to the party. My goal in opening Monograms off Madison was to provide customers with a place where they could find a “gift that will be remembered” for every special person in their lives.”
Together with her husband, Christoph Angelbeck, Tierney has handpicked the store’s products from around the world with a focus on American-made goods. As a result, Monograms off Madison has an assortment of unique gifts such as monogrammed linens, personalized china, etched glassware, travel bags, stationery, bath towels, baby gifts, and more! Customers are also welcome to bring in their own items to be personalized.
Similar to the personalized items in the store, Tierney and her staff make the entire experience a special one and assist customers from start to finish. From choosing the perfect item, deciding on the monogram style (over 25 to choose from), thread color (60+ available) and placement, Tierney’s expertise ensures each customer can create a truly unique gift.
