Deck the Halls: Sandor Stockings!

The holiday season is upon us and here at Monograms off Madison, we feel the best way to kick things off is to celebrate one of the newest additions to our store: Sandor Collection Christmas Stockings!   Featuring intricate felt designs, each handmade stocking has been customized for Monograms off Madison by leaving space at the top for personalization!

The Sandor Collection was started in 1988  by Leve and Carole Karvazy who wanted to share the traditional craft heritage of their homeland, Hungary, with the rest of the world.  Every Sandor stocking is designed and created by Hungarian artisians who combine eastern motifs with western holiday designs.  From holly leaves to reindeer to snowflakes and more, there’s a stocking for everyone…we keep changing our mind about which one is our favorite!

Time to Give Thanks.

Thanksgiving is a beautiful holiday.  A time to gather with family and friends and reflect on what we are thankful for.  For some it’s the food on the table and the people gathered round.  For me this year it’s much more, it’s what’s inside my belly.   I am thankful to be expecting our first child in the early part of 2011!

As for our festivities, we hosted at our apartment this year.  It was a small gathering of my parents and in-laws and we had a marvelous time.  We feasted on the typical thanksgiving dishes and I made a delicious starter of roasted pears and shallot salad.  I decorated the table with orange votive candles, acorns and wheat.  I love place cards, even with a small group, it’s nice to mix couples up and designate seating.  My place cards were beautiful goldish red apples and I wrote the names on the leaves in gold.  And of course, the linens were monogrammed with a big A.  I love a single initial on table lines, it’s simple and there is no debate on the monogram.  Given my limited time I was pleased with the table and I enjoyed doing it.
